Marloth Park Honorary Rangers Winter Fair 2017

It is that time of the year again! For the first time, we have built a partnership with BUCO hardware and would like to thank them for their generosity. The fair will be held at Henk van Rooyen Park from 09.00 to 16.00

We promise you a day of education, fun and entertainment for the whole family. Entry fees are R15 for adults and R10 for children under the age of 15.

A variety of events are on offer which include the following:

- Stalls

- Wild life displays including SAN Parks & Lowveld Venom Suppliers

- Beer Garden with live entertainment

- Food Court

- Auction

- Competitions and prizes – including our famous and popular bottle draw!

Proceeds go towards environmental and conservation projects within Marloth Park. We invite you all to come and share a fun filled day with us.

Marloth Park Ereveldwagters Winter Kermis – 8 Julie 2017

Dit is weereens daardie tyd van die jaar! Vir die eerste keer het ons ‘n vennootskap met BUCO hardeware aangegaan en ons wil hulle hartlik bedank vir hulle vrygewigheid. Die kermis sal by Henk van Rooyen Park plaasvind van 09.00 tot 16.00

Ons beloof u ‘n dag van leersaamheid, pret en vermaak vir die hele gesin. Toegangs fooie is R15 vir volwassenes en R10 vir kinders onder die ouderdom van 15.

A verskeidenheid van aktiwiteite word aangebied soos die volgende:

- Stalletjies

- Omgewings uitstallings insluitende San Parks en Lowveld Venom Suppliers

- Bier Tuin met lewendige orkes

- Voedsel stalletjies

- Veiling

- Kompetisies en pryse – insluitende ons beroemde en populêre bottel trekking!

Snippets and Tips.

Following good rains Marloth is looking green and lush, but much of the greenery is not edible for

our animals. We still need to ask property owners to continue the planting of grass seed.

Alien plant removal is going well with the help of many people. However, much still needs to be

done. We can advise owners as to which plants to remove from their property.

Easter will soon be upon us with the influx of many visitors who we sincerely hope have a wonderful

time in our beautiful place.

Please would homeowners assist us by advising guests not to hand feed the animals.

Although they may appear tame, they are still wild. Some instances observed are: Feeding Zebra

while standing in a group of the animals, handfeeding Ostrich and allowing children to attempt to

feed Warthog that have piglets. Feeding of Primates should not be done at all as Baboons and Vervet

Monkeys become extremely aggressive over time. They could attack and seriously injure someone.

There have already been instances of aggressive behaviour by baboons towards people in Marloth

Park.

Please visit our Stall at the Easter Fair at Marlothii Trading Post. See our exhibits and we will gladly

help you with any queries you may have.

Brokkies en Wenke.

Na die goeie reën lyk Marloth groen en welig, maar baie van die groenigheid kan nie deur ons diere

gevreet word nie. Ons vra nog steeds dat grond eienaars sal aanhou op gras sade te plant.

Die verwydering van uitheemse plante gaan goed met die hulp van baie mense, maar daar is nog

baie werk wat gedoen moet word. Eienaars kan ons gerus kontak indien hulle advies nodig het vir

watter plante verwyder moet word.

Paasfees gaan binnekort met ons wees en dit gaan gepaard met ‘n instroming van baie besoekers.

Ons hoop van harte dat hulle ‘n wonderlike tyd in ons pragtig dorp gaan geniet.

Ons versoek huis eienaars om ons te help deur nie toe te laat dat gaste die diere met die hand

probeer voer nie. Selfs al lyk hulle mak, is dit nog steeds wilde diere. ‘n Paar voorbeelde wat ons al

opgelet het is die volgende: Om Sebras te voer terwyl die diere mense omring, pogings om volstruise

met die hand te voer en om toe te laat dat kinders probeer om vlakvarke te voer wat kleintjies het.

Die voer van bobbejane en ape word ten sterkste afgekeur omdat hierdie diere met die tyd verskriklik

aggresief word. Hulle kan mense aanval en baie ernstige beserings veroorsaak. Ons het alreeds

kennis geneem van bobbejane se aggressiewe gedrag teenoor mense in Marloth Park.

Kom kuier gerus by ons stalletjie tydens die Paasfees mark by Marlothii Handelspos. Kyk na ons

uitstallings en ons sal graag help met enige navrae.

PARTHENIUM HYSTEROPHORUS - FAMINE WEED

Home owners of Marloth Park are urged to assist in the control of this dangerous, invasive, alien weed.

Description: Tall hairy stem, up to 1.5m high. Pale green, hairy leaves and prolific small white flowers.

Where: Roadsides, water courses and overgrazed land (Marloth Park)
