Particularly during the winter months when there is very little feed available to the wildlife, the animals gouge themselves on maize that people are putting out. Maize is NOT digested and it does not matter if it is crushed or whole, it ferments in the digestive system causing a build-up of gas.

This causes colic and extreme pain to the wildlife. Animals appear bloated and depending on the amount of maize eaten and the size of the animal it causes death.

We have recently had Kudu and Zebra dying as a result of maize. Use only game pellets for wildlife, Lucerne and mineral blocks for game. DO NOT feed animals bread, junk foods etc. as it makes them sick. We would like to thank Marlothi Bush Centre and Ingwe Supermarket for supporting this by not stocking maize or rat poison that is killing our wildlife

Our vision

hrOur vision is to support and assist the Nkomazi Municipality Conservation Department within Marloth Park with their management strategies and objectives while being an effective volunteer group.
